My studio theater students were looking for an item they could put into a witches cauldron that was only six inches long. They wanted it to glow and have smoke coming out of it. The smoke machine only left a little bit of room for the glow item.

One of my quietest students came in the next day to let the entire class know that she had solved the problem. She had found 6 inch glow sticks online and had already ordered them. They were very shocked by the fact that she was the one to solve the crew’s problem.

The night of the complete run through, the stage crew put two of the 6 inch glow sticks into the witch’s cauldron and it lit up like they anticipated it to.

On opening night, my quietest student, once again shocked her fellow students by bringing them all glow in the dark glasses to wear. The audience got a big kick out of them, when the lights were down and they would come out to move the props with their glow in the dark glasses on.

I would say that my quietest students became my most respected student that night. Her classmates even voted her the coolest stage crew member that year.
